It was code named Tatuus F.3 T-318 and promises to be a "game changer" in the world on Junior Formula racing series.
This new F3 specification car to be raced for the first time in F3 Asia Series this years is built by italian Tatuus, an Italian chassis manufacturer founded in 1980 and with a already long story on the manufacturing of racing chassis for several formula racing series. In the history books is, for example, the association with Renault Sport for its production of the Formula Renault chassis, among others.
Most recently, the company become responsible for the construction also of the chassis being used on the several F4 racing series.
As for the latest creation the Tatuus F.3 T-318 is a monocoque carbon composite FIA F.3 2018 homologated that includes, at the resemblance of their "Big Brothers" in F1 the "famous" FIA homolagated Halo.
Besides, the Halo, the Tatuus F3 chassis also features side impact panels, front and rear carbon impact structures, wheel tethers, an extractable seat.
The car is powered by an Alfa Romeo 1750 TBi engine (ATM AR-F3R) built by the also Italian Autotecnica Motori. The engine is a four-cylinder inline turbocharger of 1742cc with double VVT (inlet and exhaust) delivering 270hp@6000rpm and it is attached to a Sadev SL-R 82 six-speed gearbox LSD Paddle shift transmission.
The ECU is a Magneti Marelli SRG 140 and the Instrumentation is of LCD dash integrated in steering wheel kind. Data acquisition system is also powered by Magneti Marelli
Front Suspension is composed of twin shocks layout with camber and toe adjustable, at the rear you will find the same twin shock layout with adjustments of camber, toe, roll center, and anti-squat. The Dampers are adjustable from KONI with 2 way and Eibach springs.
The stopping power will be at the expenses of some Brembo 4 piston Monolitic forget calipers, paired with Brembo 26mm discs and Pagid brake pads. Connection to the tarmac is done by O.Z. Aluminum wheels, measuring 10x13” at front and 12x13” at the rear, wearing Giti tyres.
